Expertise –Toys – EN standards

Toys to be placed on the EU market must be safe; therefore the entrepreneurs who put them on the market must have evidence of toy safety according to the requirements of the EC Directive 2009/48/EC. 

Detailed requirements for the safety of toys from different perspectives are regulated both by international EN standards and many EU regulations. 

Technical capabilities and competence of LATSERT can provide entrepreneurs with the necessary objective evidence about the safety of toys. 

LATSERT carries out expertise upon the request of entrepreneurs and market surveillance institutions, providing independent assessment on: 

  • conformity of the sample toy to the safety requirements of EN standards based on the test results; 

  • conformity of the toy to the limitations of EU regulations for employment of chemicals and the materials used; 

  • conformity of toy labels, instructions or user manuals.

Consultations- Registration of fertilisers

According to the Regulations No 530 of the Cabinet of Ministers of Latvia (27 June 2006) “Regulation for the identification, conformity assessment and sale of fertilisers”, in Latvia is a compulsory registration of fertilisers in the State Plant Protection Service.

LATSERT: 

  • provides assistance to entrepreneurs in registration of fertilisers (assesses conformity of the product, helps to prepare an appropriate labelling text, carries out the necessary testing, submits all the information necessary for product registration, etc.); 

  • carries out testing required for the registration of fertilisers in an accredited laboratory.

Consultations - Registration of dietary food

According to the requirements of Regulations Nr.1053 of the Cabinet of Ministers of Latvian Republic “Regulation Regarding Specific Requirements for Dietary Food, the Procedure for the Registration of the Dietary Food and the State Fee for the Registration of the Dietary Food”  a manufacturer, an importer, a distributor or a packager shall submit a notification to the Food and Veterinary Service about the following products prior to placing them on the Latvian market for the first time: 

  • infant formulae

  • dietary foods for special medical purposes

  • gluten-free food products 

  • food products intended to meet the expenditure of intense muscular effort, especially for sportsmen

  • food products for the persons who have carbohydrate metabolism disorders (diabetes)

  • other foodstuffs intedned for particular nutritional uses, excluding follow-on formulae for infants, food for infants and small children, food intended for use in energy-restricted diets for weight reduction. 

At entrepreneur's request, LATSERT provides assistance in notification of dietary food (fills in the notification application, informs about the necessary documents, checks or prepares the labelling text in Latvian, submits for registration etc.).
