The main quality, conformity assessment and classification requirements for fertilisers labelled as "EC fertiliser" ("EG-Düngemittel" or respective names in other languages of EU member states), are set in the REGULATION (EC) No 2003/2003 OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL of 13 October 2003 relating to fertilisers. Requirements for other fertilisers and their registration are set out in the national legislation of EU member states. In Latvia, there is a compulsory registration of fertilisers in the State Plant Protection Service, a mandatory requirement for self-control of fertilisers, as well as detailed requirements for identification, quality and labelling of fertilisers.
In addition to the mandatory requirements, a business involved in fertiliser turnover often has to fulfil other conditions of foreign clients that often include ensuring conformity of the fertiliser to some additional criteria (such as humic acid content in organic fertilisers). LATSERT has been operating in the field of fertiliser conformity assessment and testing for many years and can offer businesses both the mandatory service - fertiliser testing in a laboratory accredited according to the standard EN ISO / IEC 17025 for registration of the fertiliser - and additional services, such as certification, expertise and consultations.
As LATSERT is included in the European Commission's list as a laboratory that is competent to provide the services needed to verify fertiliser conformity, the documents issued by us are recognized not only in the EU, but also outside it.
